There’s not much preamble from me this time around. It’s Saturday and the kids and John just headed out for an adventure. I have a fresh cup of coffee (mixed with a bit of hot chocolate powder) within arm’s reach.
Time for some walking updates!
BLOG FRIEND WALKY WALKS

Nicole: Just our usual walks this week! It was my birthday on Tuesday and I was looking forward to telling all the people I normally chat with. BUT I RAN INTO NO ONE. This has literally never happened before! Is it a sign? I felt low on near-stranger birthday greetings! [Happy birthday, my friend! At least there was cake!!!]

Jacquie: I have attached a collage I made from Canva. This is my first time using Canva and I think I did it correctly. [Awesome job!] There are four images, all from our trip to Morocco recently. [What an incredible adventure; thanks for walking along in Morocco!! These pictures will likely look very familiar to Nicole after her visit in 2025!]
- Top left – Hassan II Mosque – Casablanca
- Top right – Cyber Park – Marrakech
- Bottom left – White stork – an iconic, protected bird that are considered symbols of good luck and fortune
- Bottom right – a shot from our hotel room in Marrakech

Engie: This week for CBWC was interesting. Here’s my blog post for the week. It rained a lot over the weekend and our rivers flooded the town. Most of my regular walking routes are flooded out (see the collage), so Hannah and I had to walk IN NEIGHBORHOODS which, if you are a certain canine, is full of dangers like men and children playing and other dogs. On the bright side, the days are getting longer and the sunrises have been absolutely blissful.
Our house has not taken on any water, so I feel very lucky. I’m sure in the coming weeks there will be more updates about how the town is handling things once the waters start to recede.
[The photos are lovely, but I realize the reality of flooding is anything BUT lovely. I’m so glad you’re staying dry and still managing to get out and explore with Hannah. I’m hoping the water recedes quickly and there isn’t too much damage.]

Jana walked at home and in “Big Town!”
[This reminds me of how we refer to Halifax as “The City.”]

Mary. Spring has finally arrived, and my flowering trees bloomed. This is the same tree, three days apart- the rich pink color pales over time. [Wow, the difference in colour is incredible. And those blooms are stunning.]
ELISABETH’S WALKS

Wednesday, April 15 | Monaco, Monaco | We spent the day walking the F1 track, going up/down 1000s of stairs.

Thursday, April 16 | Venice, Italy | We got our first glimpse of this magical city. We strolled the streets as the sun was setting and all fell in love with the place.

Friday, April 17 | Venice, Italy | We walked 20,000+ steps over canals and along cobblestone alleyways (with a pit stop for a gondola ride).

Saturday, April 18 | Lake Bled, Slovenia | We were in the car the majority of the day, but braved a steep climb to get an incredible view of what has been ranked the most beautiful lake in Europe.
Sunday, April 19 | Munich, Germany | John and I walked to a take-out spot to grab supper for our crew. I took zero pictures, but promise this walk did happen!

Monday, April 20 | Munich, Germany + Riga, Lativa + Helsinki, Finland | We trekked through airports in three different countries!

Tuesday, April 21 | Helsinki, Finland | This was our first full day in Finland. I walked with the kids to check out a few local parks and we stopped by a grocery store. (Indy continued on with his tree pose obsession)…!
And that’s a wrap on the THIRD week of walking adventures. If you’ve been joining in, I’m starting to take note of locations for my maps! If you’re participating in any way, I’d love if you shared your walking location with me via the comment section or email: optimisticmusings {at} gmail {dot} com. If you’re in North America, taking it one step further to specifying the state/province is appreciated because I usually break that continent down a bit further.
Happy walking, friends.

I’ve been feeling better, so last Saturday my daughter, a friend and I went on a walking adventure in the dunes of Hoek van Holland. 8K! I feel very proud of us!
We then had a lovely lunch to recover 😊
That is a great accomplishment. And lunch sounds like a great reward at the end of a long walk.
I walk in Illinois, but I did manage a day in Iowa last week!
Lovely shots! Thank you for hosting.
Hooray! Two states to add to the list 🙂
Everyone has so many cool photos!!! Love the appearances by Rex and Hannah. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the epic road trip!
I love the pet cameos, too!
I thought I commented before, not sure what happened. I love the change in Mary’s flowering trees in only 3 days! And wow, Engie’s town sure got hit. Your pictures are beautiful…OK, ALL of the pictures have been great.
I have been walking, but not taking a lot of pictures. As always, there have been a couple of days when I considered skipping my walk, but CBWC got me out the door. Thanks again!
This makes me so happy! That CBWC helps propel people outside and into nature.
The flooding shocked me in Engie’s pictures (it also looks beautiful, but I realize that it’s horribly destructive to property).
Okay, this is a total mom moment from a non-mom. Don’t let Indy put his foot on his knee in tree pose. Above the knee or below the knee is the rule. If he loses his balance just right, he could totally mess up his knee!!
Other than that, wow! Such stunning photos from everybody. I like how CBWC makes us look for beauty in our everyday walks. Now, it’s not hard for YOU being in such cool places, but those of us going over the same square quarter mile each day can still find treasures out there.
This is why it takes a village to raise a child. I had no idea! Thanks for the very practical advice!!!!
Honestly, I miss walking some of my familiar routes. Here it can be a bit of sensory overload.
I completely forgot to send you my walks, but I don’t think I took any photos. I have some fun street art photos from last Thursday though. all my walking has been in Melbourne this time around.
Yay for walks (and street art)!
I walked but mostly to the mall to cool off! Haha. It has been so hot that my energy levels have been quite low, to be honest.
I just saw your post and the temperatures sound horrible. I would wilt. WILT!
