I figured I wouldn’t have much time on our road trip to blog… and I was right. (All the posts that were published this week I wrote back in Vienna.) But I loved receiving all the emails and photos and texts with your walking updates throughout the week.
We’re currently settled into a hotel in Munich for two nights which feels positively luxurious after such a hectic seven days. It also means I have some time to blog (and wade through the approximately two billion pictures on my phone).
I will share all sorts of details about our trip in future posts, but for anyone who’s curious, here’s what we’ve been up to since last Sunday afternoon:

In total, we visited eight countries. An epic road trip in every sense of the word. Despite all that time spent in the car (over 24 hours), we still managed a lot of walking.
And so did you! (I love chiming in with commentary on everyone’s walks but this week I’ve run out of time so you get to escape my prattling, but know that I prattled excitedly in my head over every single photo and collage.)

Jana sent a collection of photos from her neighbourhood in California!

Nicole: Rex and I did our usual walks this week, but this walk took forever! Same distance – 5.25 km – but I kept running into people who wanted to talk to me! I do love a good chat but our pace was like 15 min/ km!

mbmom11: I walked yesterday at my son’s track meet. As you can see, where I live is flat, and it was too early for a dramatic sunset. Very different from the building cities you’ve been living in overseas!

Sabine: I really wanted to participate regularly in the CBWC, but somehow fell off the bandwagon and probably only managed about half of the days. I do bike almost everywhere and on at least one occasion I spent 15 minutes in the evening outside playing volleyball with our daughter. [She sent along a picture from an Easter bonfire!!]

Melissa: Last week I managed to get four runs in for a change, plus continued walking all around the neighbourhood. This week I have included a photo from a few suburbs down the coast. I had a medical appointment there and G had the car so I caught public transport which is free here for the month of April and then walked. The old station is so cute I just had to snap a photo. The original buildings and platforms are protected but the rails and actual station are now underground and the whole area makes a lovely public space.

Engie: Here’s my post for week two. I actually walked with partners other than the dog this week! It was a big week. My collage is foot selfies. I love this because this is ONE WEEK and you’ll see me in winter boots and sandals. So it goes in the northern United States.Â
Jenny from WV:
- Wednesday – Mowed the lawn. It took about 45 minutes.
- Thursday – Took a 26 minute walk in the park.
- Friday – Jogged a mile. 44 seconds faster than the last time.Â
- Saturday – Took a 40 minute walk in a nearby neighborhood that is still under construction so very little traffic other than maneuvering around the occasional dumpster parked in the street.
- Sunday – Busy day with a dinner after church and band rehearsal. Took a quick 1 mile walk around neighborhood.
- Monday – Mowed the lawn again. I usually mow on Mondays and while it didn’t absolutely need to be cut today, waiting until next week would have been too long.
- Tuesday – No exercise today. I had another rehearsal after work and that took up most of the evening.Â

Diane: Greetings from DC – here is my CBWC week two collage – the colour I noticed this week was orange!Â
The world is still gorgeously blooming, hence the first row is awash in pink – azeleas and Kwanzan cherry blossoms, which bloom a little later than the iconic Yoshino cherry trees.  As for my colour of the week – Orange… Orange was a little trickier for me to find than red;  the colour seems to occur a lot less frequently in nature. But there was still plenty to be found.  I saw: orange pylons, orange spray painted utility markings, orange Cadbury mini egg, orange leaves, the orange glow of a street lamp, orange accents in banners and signs, orange stripes in the crosswalk (you might see this crosswalk again in future weeks…), orange safety flags, my orange skirt at a contradance, the Robin red breast’s orange chest, and – my favorite – an orange vintage car.  (This latter item I actually saw on my walk during week one, and made a mental note to revisit the street during week two.)

Elinoora: I actually managed a contribution for the next CBWC round up! A few sights from walks around the neighbourhood – we have a noise wall to protect against the highway noise, and the grass is maintained with sheep. I love spotting the sheep. Also showing off my me-made coat in the top right corner – softest fabric ever and the weather is finally nice enough to wear it!
Last Sunday was the marathon of Rotterdam, and we went to encourage my husband, who was doing the 10k (there’s an entire weekend programme). Top left shows the cubus houses (https://www.rotterdam.info/en/visit/finder-locations/kubuswoningen-kijk-kubus-museumwoning) , we walked past them on our way to the start.Â
Ernie posted pictures of her walking adventures here!

Kyria sent me a collage of photos from her current walking adventures in Thailand!

You did have an epic road trip and some amazing walks. I enjoyed seeing all the photos from you and the bloggers. What a beautiful world it is. Thank you for bringing us together through movement!
The world really is such an incredible range of climates and topographies, etc. I love seeing the diversity of locations being represented and it was really fun to walk in so many different spots this month. Next time I can almost guarantee I will be in Nova Scotia only!!
You are going to win the award for most countries walked in during CBWC! The best that I can do to compete is to walk in four different states. So far New River Gorge NP in WV wins for most beautiful and Columbia SC wins for coolest vibes.
That is very impressive, Birchie!
My sister lives in Columbia and it is a gorgeous city!
i give up, I’m not cool enough to be a walking blogger. But I LOVE seeing photos of everyone else’s walks! I love the variety. I also love the Catrina sighting! I cannot wait to hear more about this epic road trip!
Ha. I think running 60 miles on your birthday checks ALL the CBWC boxes, Jenny.
It was delightful to meet up with Catrina <3
What a road trip! This will be a great story to read!
I’ve been to Liechtenstein- drove through on my one trip to Europe in high school. I remember nothing.
I wondered if anyone would have been to Liechtenstein and I didn’t have to wait long to get my answer!
I went last week and I don’t remember much 😉
I’ve never even heard of an Easter bonfire, but I want to be by a fire now!!! What a lovely tradition.
Fun, right???? Especially where I live since Easter is often cool and damp.
