Today marks the first day of October 2025 which means…it’s time to get our shoes on and move our bodies!

To everyone joining me for The Cool Bloggers Walking Club this month, welcome.
For all the details (and a printable tracker) go here!
I’ve had a few more questions come in — or be reiterated — so here are the answers:
CBWC Q&A
Q. Do you have Instagram?
No, I don’t have any social media accounts. Any updates I share will happen via the blog.
Q. Do you have to be a blogger to participate?
NO! I realize the group name can be misleading. While many of the participants are bloggers, any and all are welcome regardless of your online presence (or lack thereof).
Q. Do I have to send in photos from my walks?

No! I find photos add to the fun of the experience, but I know some of you would rather walk without any technology in hand (I applaud that decision!), some of you plan to walk very early in the morning before there’s any natural light, and some of you simply have no desire to manage yet another thing.
If you do take photos or write an update on your blog (if you have one — this is not a requirement, see above), and want me to incorporate that into my weekly updates, send them my way via e-mail:
optimisticmusings {at} gmail {dot} com
The overarching goal is to enjoy the experience.
I will be asking everyone to tell me their country and/or state/province (anonymously is fine) at the end of the month, so I can pull together a North American and world map to show the global distribution of our walking adventures.
Q. When and how are you posting recaps?
I haven’t quite decided when I’ll post recaps; I was originally leaning toward Monday, but that’s such a hectic day for many readers as they head back into the workweek. Stay tuned!
Until further notice, this is my tentative schedule:
Week 1: Wednesday, October 1 – Tuesday, October 7 | Recap Monday, October 13
Week 2: Wednesday, October 8 – Tuesday, October 14 | Recap Monday, October 20
Week 3: Wednesday, October 15 – Tuesday, October 21 | Recap Monday, October 27
Week 4: Wednesday, October 22 – Tuesday, October 28 | Recap Monday, November 3
Week 5: Wednesday, October 29 – Friday, October 31 | Final Recap + CBWC Wrap-up Party TBD
Now excuse me while I head out the door for Walk #1!

Happy walking friends.

This non- blogger is lacing up her shoes to get ready! We have summer 2.0 going on, so I’m probably walking inside for the first week. I’ll also have no pretty autumn leaves to share- the heat we’ve had dries them out on the trees. But, psyched to do this nonetheless!
Yes, the heat and lack of rain is definitely making our leaves VERY dry. I’ve never seen a fall this dry…ever. Which is scary, especially since wild fires are really picking up steam again here in Nova Scotia 🙁
But it is lovely and crisp outside right now, and I will soon be heading off for my very first walk.
This will be fun. Thanks for hosting again.
Before reading I wondered if I need to get outside today. Well, yes I do because it’s CBWC. Yeah.
Ha! This is funny, Tobia. Glad you read this post before the day was over. I wonder what the weather is like in Germany today. Hopefully sunny and warm and you have a marvellous time outside.
With the perfect timing, we have a storm heading our way! I might miss two days but I’ll get out there today!
We have rain in the forecast this afternoon so I’m headed out shortly to beat the weather. I had to take my daughter to the orthodontist this morning, so there was no early morning walk for me!
I hope you enjoyed your walk! I went for a short run, then walked to the gym, then G met me and we picked up hot drinks, walked Riley to the park and stopped by the nursery for some plants on the way home.
Your October 1st is drawing to a close and mine is just starting.
Sounds like a very full day with lots of movement.
Happy October, Elisabeth! 🍂 I love how you make walking feel like both a club and a celebration.
I’m looking forward to seeing that map at the end of the month!
It is ironic I head up a walking group because I am such a wuss about exercise. I wish that I loved it. Alas, I have to force myself to do it. BUT, it sure is easier when other people are walking “with” me. Also, the weather in this part of the world makes it delightful as I get to watch all the foliage changes.
Excited to participate! I’m on my feet a lot for my job but want to make sure I’m adding some intentional outdoor walks.
Outdoor walks are a nice way to reset after a busy day!
Woo hoo! October! Let’s do this!
My walk today is with a friend and we’ll go to a favorite hiking area that we frequent together. I’m excited to see all the autumn foliage!
Awww. Yay! You’re starting the month off with a bang — a beautiful hike AND time with a friend. Double gold stars, Suzanne <3
Happy walking! Doggo said to tell you that she is very excited to kick off our first official CBWC walk at lunch today. She also said to remind everyone that she is not a blogger and that she doesn’t have a phone or thumbs so she can’t take pictures, but she is still 100% in on CBWC.
Please tell Doggo she is a cherished part of the club and we cannot wait to see what she discovers this month. Also, tell Doggo that if she asks real nicely, her lovely owner would likely take a few pictures at her behest.
I’m going for my first walk during my lunch break today since May since the weather finally decided to cool down a bit. Perfect timing!
It has been a LONG, HOT summer season. Glad the weather is cooperating for an enjoyable forecast for walking.
Yay! It’s Go-Time! I’m heading out the door right after I finish typing this comment!
Hooray! I’m heading out the door after I finish typing THIS comment. We’re twinsies 🙂
For the occasion we have beautiful weather today (okay it had been nice since a couple of days). While I biked already to multiple places today (and more places later on), I have not had the chance to take a substantial walk yet. We will see…
Hey, biking counts, too! And, bonus points, it feels very “Netherlands!”
Gonna try. Will send a photo from this morning. I’m hoping this will prevent me from making excuses on the days that my walking buddy can’t join me. Thank you for the encouragement!
I believe in you, Jana!
One day down…a few more to go 😉
I did a trail run today, which I’m counting! I’ve decided to count all runs, walks, or Stairmaster workouts as my “walks.” I’m excited to be joining!
Love it, Jenny. YES! All of this counts as CBWC participation. I’m excited you’re joining in and can’t wait to follow along.
I completely forgot this started today – BUT, I was up and out around 6:30 am (much to my husband’s chagrin – he’d rather I wait for it to get light out whereas I prefer to get it over and done as soon as possible) to get in a little over 2 miles. If I remember, I’ll try to get some pictures tomorrow as the sun rises.
That’s an early start, but what a great way to start the day! And bonus since you get to see the beauty of a sunrise.
I just finished today’s walk. It is just gorgeous fall weather here – beautiful blue skies, trees starting to turn, a slight breeze and about 68-70°. I did take a couple of pictures to kick things off and I think I will try to take one picture a day to keep track of my progress.
Yay! One down, 30 more to go.
Fall is my favourite season and it is perfect walking weather in my part of the world. I’m so glad you had good conditions. I try to take a picture each day I’m out as well. It makes it feel more special to record momentous things from my walks (sometimes the only momentous thing being the fact I actually made it outside for a walk)!
Today’s walk was after lunch. A tour around the perimeter of my property (minus the 10 acres of woods as bow hunting started today which means staying out of the woods unless I’m hunting so as to not alter the deer herd’s habits) ended up being about 25 minutes of lovely weather, some photos and taste testing some of the wild apples.
That all sounds delightful. Your property sounds lovely! It’s so nice to have easy access to wooded areas and natural scenery. It really boosts the spirits.
I didn’t test any wild apples today, but I bought a giant bag of cortlands because I need to make apple crisps for an event this weekend and needed to stock up on supplies, apples being the key ingredient 😉
Hope Day 2’s walk is just as lovely.
I’ve walked forever. 10k daily. But, without an earbud is a stretch. Day 1 is finished. Pink sunset, and I don’t even take my phone out to snap it. Woot woot. Tomorrow.
WWFB
Wow! That is a wonderful habit. 10 km is no small feat, especially daily. The sunset sounds magical…<3
I will definitely be joining in! I’ve walked both days in my neighborhood, but hopefully will go other places if the weather continues to be good.
Fingers crossed the weather holds.
[…] there’s Canadian Thanksgiving, Halloween and, of course, the return of Cool Bloggers Walking Club! My calendar is stacked with fun […]
Day 2 (yesterday). The sky changed moment by moment. Always pink somewhere. I was delighted to feel my heart rate accelerate.
The sky is a constantly evolving work of art! So glad you were able to savour it.
My walk is the same every morning, from my house, down the gravel road to my mailbox. then around our meadow….stopping to see my son’s dog next door…& back home again. Once the temps cool & the ticks aren’t so bad in the woods, I’ll walk our trails that go along a lake. Hopefully, before the end of October I’ll be back in the woods!
That sounds like an absolutely lovely circuit!
Catching up on blogs now I’m home from our trip, and I’m in of course! I went on some great holiday trips walks, nice way to start,
Welcome home! Hope it was restful and awesome.
[…] week I joined Elisabeth’s Cool bloggers walking club, which means walking every day in October. That should be easy for October, right? October is […]
I kicked things off with a bang: We were at Monticello on the 1st and I logged ALL the steps! haha…
I’ll try and send a pic or few your way as we go along, but I think I’m going to end up doing a mid-month update feature on the blog and then a final recap at the end of the month …
Hurrah! I’m looking forward to reading your recaps and seeing the accompanying photos <3
