Okay, did that title get your attention?
I am going crazy over the most ridiculous of things. I even offered both kids cold, hard cash if they could help me come up with the right answer; alas, my whole family (and some long-suffering friends) are stumped. Help! Please!
John and I watched a documentary this weekend and I’m convinced one of the characters (convicted of murder, incidentally) has a celebrity doppelganger. I feel like he played either a scientist or a psychiatrist?
I thought it might have been Elf. Or a Marvel movie. Or Friends. I’m pretty sure he acted in both comedic and action roles? So far, none of my guesses have panned out.
Does this guy look like an actor or am I going crazy? Either way, at least I’ll have an answer. I have faith in you to help me solve this mystery.

Peter Macnichol? The hair is wrong but the facial expression is similar. Or the dude from Portlandia.

Now I’m googling photos of Fred Arminsen and I think he looks quite similar.

This guy has 2 half brothers: Anthony Fauci and Fred Armisen.

Eddie Redmayne as Steven Hawking?
Bri
Reminds me of Jeff Goldblum who was in Friends and Marvel movies
ren
he reminds me of levi strauss CEO, Chip Bergh. though, obviously, not an actor.
Shelly
Jon Cryer came to mind.
Lindsay
There’s a British actor named Timothy Spall that he looks like it… or, possibly even Christoph Waltz?
San
Steven Hawkins was my initial gut reaction. Just in better shape.

Probably not who you’re thinking of but I see Bill Nye.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie
Argh! He does look familiar but I can’t place him. I like the Peter McNicol-Anthony Fauci-Fred Armisen love child theory.
For yuks I put the image into google. It matched it to your documentary AND a few images of Levi’s CEO. The article was “Levi Strauss CEO: Stop washing your jeans” so if you were looking for a tangent there it is;-)

He reminds me definitely of Stephen Hawking, but also of Bob Balaban, who played the president of NBC on Seinfeld. (He has been in tons of stuff, including Friends.) And also a little of the original host of The Weakest Link, Anne Robinson.

(Not sure what happened to my original comment – apologies for duplicate!) I think he definitely looks like Stephen Hawking, but I think he most looks like a clean-shaven Bob Balaban, who played the president of NBC on Seinfeld. He has been in tons of things, including Friends. But your guy also reminds me of the original host of The Weakest Link, Anne Robinson.

I am not really good with actors’ names. Don’t even bother to ask me about singers or bands or who sings what. I blame growing up with an AM radio in the car, but really – I could’ve tuned in a bit since then, and I just haven’t. Ha, tuned in. Get it. That was unintentional. I’m curious. Did any of these suggestions register with you?
Elisabeth
YES! I will do a follow-up post shortly!

Bill Nye the Science Guy? Or the guy from House?
NGS
I did a reverse image search in Google (because he looks like a generic white dude to me) and he looks like the CEO of Levi’s (the jean company), Chip Bergh. That’s probably not who you’re thinking of. LOL.
Lisa's Yarns
No idea but I don’t know many actors names and rarely see the doppelgangers that other do! Hopefully someone helps you figure it out!

My husband would know. My first thought on that image was “Who is it. I have seen him before…” Well, I am not of much help. The husband is gone for the weekend.
Mireille
I thought it was Fred Armisen before reading the post!
