Who’s ready for a random assortment of topics?
Ready or not, here it comes.

Time Zones
- I live in the Atlantic Standard Time Zone. It’s common to assume I’m on Eastern, but EST and AST are not the same. If it’s 9:00 am in New York City, it’s 10:00 am in Nova Scotia.
- To further muddy the waters, Newfoundland has its own time zone, 30 minutes ahead of AST. So, if it’s 9:00 am in New York City and 10:00 am in Nova Scotia…it’s 10:30 am in Newfoundland.
House Mishaps

The same child who broke a giant hole in the drywall of our hallway (which is still not fixed) managed to break one of our dining room chairs. I put white electrical tape around the broken piece (which, as you can see from the photo above — taken years ago when all six chairs were still intact — does not blend overly well with the wood tone).
And then it proceeded to break again.
*Sigh*
And IKEA no longer seems to make the natural wood tone in this style (only white or black).
*Double sigh*
Church Distractions
A few weeks ago I wrote about being distracted by someone at my church who routinely looks at sales flyers on their phone during the sermon. We moved to another spot and ended up sitting behind a couple who, you guessed it, both spent some time on their phone. One was browsing Amazon (including clogs with van Gogh-inspired designs, for anyone that might be curious) and the other was playing a game.
The next week we sat behind The Knitter which felt safe. She didn’t even knit!
Most recently we sat down and then The Scroller came and sat directly in front of us. Yes, she did scroll but I managed to position myself in a way so it wasn’t very distracting.
Planning for Prague
We haven’t booked tickets, but another family trek to Europe is on our minds later this year or early next. We’re thinking of flying into Prague, traveling immediately to Vienna, and using that as a home base for a stretch of time before heading back to Prague. Current thoughts:
From Vienna:
- Bratislava
- Salzburg, Graz, or Linz
- I’ve always wanted to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, but that would be a veryyyy long day trip. I think this will have to happen another time.
- Budapest??
From Prague:
- Bohemian Switzerland (I think the kids would enjoy the connection to The Chronicles of Narnia movies and it looks stunning)
- Český Krumlov
- Kutná Hora to see the bone church?
- Terezín. As difficult as visiting a former concentration camp would be, I don’t want my kids to grow up unaware of the consequences of hatred and evil.
A Weird Thing I Have Done
I’ve written quite a few Never Have I Ever posts, but I’ve realized I never told you about one rather bizarre thing I’ve done multiple times: getting my blood drawn at the dining room table!
My mom was a nurse, and a few times in high school I needed blood work to monitor my anemia. She’d bring home all the supplies, take my blood right there at the table first thing in the morning, and hand-deliver it to the lab. I’m not sure this would be allowed these days, but there was no pushback then — and it was extremely convenient!
Winning Photo
I recently mentioned John won the Grand Prize in a photography contest a few years ago. The prize was an all expenses paid 2-night stay at White Point Resort. People were curious to see the winning photo! Here it is!

He submitted it with the title Got Milk?
What a cheeky cow, and she earned us a great weekend getaway!
Random Questions:
- Do you brush your teeth in the shower? I’d say about 50% of the time, I bring my toothbrush into the shower with me. I did it last night and then stopped to wonder if this is weird behaviour and if other people cut two carrots with one knife* like I do…
- Kyria mentioned the auto-e-mails haven’t been going out to her for comment responses. Are other people no longer receiving an e-mail when I (or another reader) leave a comment response and you’ve checked the box to receive e-mail notifications?
*Someone — and sorry I can’t remember who — suggested this as a less macabre version of “kill two birds with one stone” and I’ve started using it all the time!*
Okay. That’s all I’ve got for today.
Your turn.
- What time zone do you live in?
- What are the best things to see in and around Prague or Vienna!
- What’s something that needs to be repaired in your home but is still on the to-do list?
- Teeth brushing in the shower — yes or no? (Per Seinfeld, George pees and Kramer makes salads…so teeth brushing feels fairly innocuous).
- Please let me know if comment response notifications are/aren’t getting through!

I’m excited for your trip! It sounds like it will be amazing, I’ve never been to any of those places.
When I was a kid, Alaska had 4 time zones. It was pretty confusing for people I think, and my grandma had it backwards and so would wake up super early to call my mom for her birthday. She thought it was later in Alaska than California, but it was 2 hours earlier, so Grandma would get up at 5am and call us and it would be 3 and my mom would think someone was dead. Crazy.
One of our dining room chair legs broke last year, and I took it to a local furniture repair. It wasn’t cheap, but it was cheaper than a new dining room set. I don’t know if you have anything like that where you are, but it might be worth trying?
I love that picture, it’s great! My husband brushes his teeth in the shower sometimes, which I find gross because I don’t like to brush my teeth with warm water.
I don’t always check the box about email answers…checking it now, will report back.
Elisabeth
Wow, that’s a lot of time zones for a single state!
I had to chuckle at your grandma getting things backwards, but I’m sure getting up at 3 am wasn’t too funny for your mom at the time.
I don’t like to brush my teeth with warm water either, but I get my toothbrush/paste wet from the sink BEFORE I get in. Though in a pinch, I’m fine with hot water.
J
I got an email from WordPress with your reply. 🙂
Elisabeth
Hooray!
Melissa
I find that often, the email answers go into my spam folder. The latest one from your blog did go there. Your trip to Prague and Vienna sounds amazing. I have only been to Vienna, and that was with my parents when I was 10, so I can’t offer any advice. I’m a no to shower tooth brushing.
Elisabeth
Ahh! Spam. Yes, that happens for me with all sorts of things. Thanks for the reminder. (@Kyria, if you’re reading this comment, maybe check your Spam folder?)
mbmom11
I occasionally brush my teeth at the start of a shower- if I’m in a rush. My showers are rare at times, so I want to use them efficiently.
I’m in the central time zone. I’m familiar with NS zone from when my sister lived there. Now I have to calculate the pacific time zone for Vancouver.
There’s a bathroom wall that needs serious help in my house. And our windows need washing – we’ve ignored them for too long. During the semester, anything that’s not an emergency gets put on hold. Once my husband’s done grading in June, the to-do list gets tackled.
We’ve gone through a lot of dining room chairs – the supports on the legs suffered greatly with my kids- not sure how. Repairs never last long. We only have one chair left that matches the dining table we got from my husband’s grandmother.
The only time I was in Vienna was many years ago during a high school tour. All I can remember was getting delicious French fries on a rainy night. Oh goodness, that was a long time ago.
Elisabeth
Oh dear. Now you’ve reminded me about our windows. They are an utter disaster. Every time the sun shines from a certain angle the grime really shows up. A few years ago we hired someone to clean the windows and really need to do that again!
French fries are delicious, so I can see why in combo with being in a lovely European setting enjoying them while it rains outside would be a wonderful memory.
Central Calif. artist Jana
If you are able to tackle those windows yourself, I highly recommend https://www.everydaycheapskate.com/homemade-glass-cleaner-recipe/ Mary Hunt is a genius!
Elisabeth
I think this is one thing I really should outsource. It cost about $250 and they did inside and out, removed all the screens. It would take me days to do it all myself and, well, I think I’d rather help keep local service providers in business!
coco
fun post! I love the winning pic! so much!
I have fond memories of prague and vienna when I took my girls and mom for an europe trip. I didn’t do any of what you did probably because they were younger.
when i’m in a rush I brush my teeth in the shower like yesterday.
Elisabeth
I mostly brush my teeth in the shower if I’m showering at the end of the day. That way, when I get out, I’m ready to hop into PJs and head to bed!
Catrina
Yes, I always get your replies!
About time zones: luckily, Zurich and Cape Town are in the same time zone, so even after an 11-hour flight, we dodge the dreaded jet lag. Small miracle, really! 😄
Your upcoming trip sounds fantastic – I’m genuinely jealous. I’ve never been to Prague, and I’ve only ever breezed through Vienna. Clearly, that needs to change! I’ll be eagerly following along and taking notes – you can be my advance scout.
Also, brushing your teeth in the shower never occurred to me, but it does sound like the height of efficiency! Love it!
Elisabeth
Hooray. I’m glad my replies come through.
That IS lucky. Flying “up” instead of “across” has some perks.
I will do my best as your advance scout 😉
Jen
I don’t comment often but I did on the small talk post and there were replies and I never received a notification although I was sure I clicked the box.
Elisabeth
Thanks for letting me know, Jen. It sounds like some people are finding them in their Spam folder? If you get a chance to try that…let me know if they happen to be nestled in there!
Maria
Your replies end up in my spam folder. So that may be happening to others?
That cow picture is great! I can see how it won a contest!
I’ve never brushed my teeth in the shower but I have brushed my kids’ teeth in the bath!
Elisabeth
I’m trying to remember if I brushed my kids teeth in the bathtub? I feel like I must have? I think both my kids sometimes take their toothbrushes into the shower. We are all STAUNCH shower folk in our household.
Birchie
I’ve never looked at a time zone map in depth until now, and I am fascinated. I’m Team Eastern, but a lot of people assume that Ohio is on central time. I return the favor every time that we go to Chicago and I expect Indiana to be on central but that doesn’t happen until closer to the Illinois border. It must be really confusing to live near the border of QC/NL with a 90 minute time difference between the two.
When I was in CA all of my personal devices changed to Pacific time but my work computer stayed on Eastern, and it made total sense for it to be 11:00 in work time but 8:00 in “real” time.
What the what with these people who are on their phones in Church. It’s not my place to tell anyone what to do or how to practice their religion but SERIOUSLY?????????????
I don’t brush my teeth in the shower because (1) it never occurred to me to do so and (2) I can’t see a benefit. I’d have the extra work of taking my tooth brush/paste in the shower and taking them back out again. However, just because I don’t do it doesn’t make it weird so you have my blessing.
mbmom11
I put the toothpaste on the brush, then step in the shower to wet it. Brush my teeth as my hair gets wet for shampooing. Rinse teeth, shampoo, and out. Probably only saves a minute, but it’s these little illusions that gets one through the day at times.
Elisabeth
This is almost EXACTLY how I do it, too. I never take toothpaste in with me.
Elisabeth
I would have assumed Ohio was on central, too (until we talked this week and you set me straight).
I did appreciate what Stephany said about phones being able to HELP people concentrate (a bit like people doing handwork or crossword puzzles while they’re listening to something). I’ve decided to adopt the stance that if it works for them, I’ll make it work for me. But it is a challenge when it distracts me from wanting to listen.
I put the toothpaste on my toothbrush before I get in. Thanks for your blessing to continue <3
Michelle G.
I have never brushed my teeth in the shower. It never crossed my mind to try it. I don’t think I can multitask like that! The time zone map is interesting, especially that Newfoundland is 30 minutes different! I’m in the Mountain time zone. I LOVE the cow picture! How cool that your husband won a prize for it. She does look cheeky!
Your email replies have started going to my Spam folder the past few times. I’ve tried to get them into my inbox, but marking them as NOT Spam and adding the sender to my safe list hasn’t worked. But no biggie, I just go to my Spam folder and read them.
Elisabeth
I have a very fond spot in my heart for that cow!!
Argh. Darn spam. Not sure why that’s happening now (a WordPress setting somewhere??). But I’m glad you see them one way or the other.
Nicole MacPherson
I’m actually super happy to see it’s not just me with the emails. For a while now your responses here have been going to spam. I tried to fix it on my end but no, it will not fix. So I just check my spam, nbd.
One of my best friends lives in Halifax, and when I moved to BC our time difference became 4 hours instead of 3, so that was weird when I was texting her.
Ooh Prague! That’s on our list. It feels like every time I want to go somewhere, you are my reconnaissance person! I’ll look forward to your reviews.
“IT’S ALL PIPES!” Lol. I don’t brush my teeth in the shower but I’m not opposed to it, I just don’t do it.
Elisabeth
It’s all pipes! Ha. Yes, indeed.
Sigh. Spam. Well, at least they are working (ish).
If we go to Prague I will do my best to give you good advice.
Pat
Ok so the benefit of brushing teeth in the shower? I couldn’t effectively brush my teeth and wash parts at the same time. Do you just brush your teeth while you enjoy the warm water flowing over your body? Or or you amazingly ambidextrous?
Living in Ontario (est) I learned long ago about NF’s unusual 30 min time zone.
Elisabeth
My main reason to shower is to enjoy the sensation of standing under the water and doing nothing. Cleaning is a distant second focus. (I’m only partially kidding, sigh.)
So I brush my teeth and enjoy the water, and then get around to actually bathing.
Ally Bean
I’m very aware of the various time zones because when my husband worked for the big company he went all over the US or had Zoom calls with people in other time zones. He had to keep the zones straight and consequently I learned about them.
I’ve never taken my toothbrush with me into the shower. I brush my teeth at the sink, then use the spray from the shower as a kind of poor man’s waterpic flosser.
Elisabeth
I gave up eventually when John was working across so many timezones. To be fair, even though he goes to Europe regularly, I am often too lazy to do the time conversion.
I absolutely loathe water spraying on my face, so I think I would lose my mind if I let the water spray into my mouth!
Jenny
Wait. I’m stuck on the time zone thing. I did think you were Eastern, but I can get past that. I’m stuck on the fact that Newfoundland is 30 minutes ahead of Atlantic- WHY? It just seems like it would be so confusing??? I just assumed that all time zones go by hour increments. I liked the time zone chart. It must be really confusing in the states where there are two time zones- like if you lived right near the line, you would constantly have to remember if the grocery store was a different time zone from your house, or the school? Sheesh. I remember the first time we drove from Florida to Texas, we were startled that our phones switched to Central while we were still in Florida. Yes, the western part of the Florida panhandle is Central, who knew? (Obviously, I’m abnormally fascinated by this subject.)
My husband brushes his teeth in the shower sometimes, and I think it’s weird! But I think that’s because everything in Florida always feels so humid and mildew-y. I wouldn’t want my toothbrush in there.
Elisabeth
Why, indeed. That is an EXCELLENT question to which I have no good answer.
Tell your husband I don’t think it’s weird!
Maureen
I’ve been to a few of those places you want to go to. I suggest NOT to skip the Castle. That’s where Disney got his inspiration for all the castles at the Disney Theme Parks. We took a bus from Munich with a tour guide that told us all about Crazy King Ludwig. It was a long day, but you get to sleep on the bus (or train) on the way back. We really enjoyed it and the views!
We also took a train from Munich to Salzburg. That tour guide wasn’t as knowledgeable about our trip as the bus guide, but the train ride was very nice. And we went during the Christmas Markets and Salzburg was my favorite. Salzburg is also the place where they filmed The Sound of Music and also Beethoven’s house where he grew up.
Two years ago we did Bratislava and Budapest. The tour guide for Budapest spent more time at a garden then moving around the city. We missed the shoes by the River from WWII! But they had a great indoor market. Buda and Pest is a City split by the river and I don’t know which side is which. We also took the funicular up to the top to see the old Soviet monuments. I don’t remember much from Bratislava unfortunately. I think we did that day on our own and didn’t know what to really see (no research on our part!). Our whole trip was a boat/bike tour were you ride your bike during the day to the next boat stop and then mostly cruise the river at night so we didn’t do a lot of research on where we were stopping.
Elisabeth
These sounds like two incredible trips. I’m worried about the distance to the castle…but maybe we skip something else? Or plan another trip in Germany another time.
So much to see, so little time!!!
Central Calif. artist Jana
What a complicated time zone situation!
If decor is important to you, you could buy a white Ikea replacement chair and paint 2 others white. Then the differences will look planned, and white will match your dishes.
When our church had more people, I used to knit or draw. Keeping my hands busy occupies the half of my brain that otherwise kidnaps the listening other half. Phone use during church really bugs me, even if people are using the Bible app. It is a fact that the very presence of a phone causes people to be on alert for notifications and interruptions.
Assuming “with one knife” also means “in one stroke”.
Never have I ever received notification when anyone answers my comment. (And each day that I comment requires filling out all the boxes, so it only saves for one day, one post.) WordPress.org jerks around blog behavior without explanation or warning or anyway to understand if it is them or if it is my blog. But it is free, so this is only an observation.
Elisabeth
I have no idea why WordPress works (or doesn’t) the way it does. Sigh. Like you mentioned, there are sites where I have to enter my information day after day (despite checking the box), and other places where it automatically stores without me doing anything. I’m sorry. What a nuisance, but I so appreciate the time you put into commenting here regularly <3
You're right! Cutting two carrots with one knife would likely be more impactful if the imagery of them both being cut simultaneously was worked into the saying. It feels nicer than killing birds 😉
Central Calif. artist Jana
P.S. Outstanding photo! Inquiring minds need to know: are those freckles or are they flies on the cow’s nose?
Elisabeth
They are colour spots, not flies! I think all dairy cows have spots like that on their nose? Not sure if they call them freckles or not. I bet Google could tell us…
Lisa's Yarns
I rarely if ever get a comment response notification! I randomly did one day so thought maybe they were working again but it was a one-time thing. Very odd!
Prague was one of the cities I visited on my first trip to mainland Europe in 2004. We did Berlin>Prague>Munich and did a day trip to the N-Castle (too lazy to scroll up for the spelling – lol). It was a wonderful trip. I’d love to visit Vienna – I’ve heard great things. But gosh, Europe travel feels far off so I don’t even like to think about it!
I live in the Central Time Zone!
Something that needs to be repaired in our house is the sections of our fence in the backyard that collapsed during a long stretch of very rainy weather + high winds. Phil is going to get his cousin to help with the repair. I would like to replace the fence which is in rough shape but first we would have to deal with our cracking retaining wall which is a $$$ project…
I’ve never brushed my teeth in the shower or even thought about doing it in the shower! But I have a very set order of doing things so would never consider doing it in the shower! But a family I babysat for in HS had tooth brushing stuff in their shower. I remember thinking that was so odd!
Elisabeth
Argh. So frustrating. It seems they mostly go to spam for people…but not everyone. It must have to do with e-mail settings. I’m technically pretty hopeless with blog things.
I feel like every home project then reveals more and more things that need to be tackled!
I’ve seen people with toothbrushes in the shower, but I don’t do that. I put my toothpaste on and take it in with me. It lives in our ensuite bathroom (that doesn’t have a shower), so I cart it back and forth. I don’t always brush my teeth when I shower, but mostly if I’m showering in the evening.
Diane
I always remember from when I was growing up in Canada, promos for radio programs or tv shows would always say, “And half an hour later in Newfoundland.” Just another quirk of Canada, I guess.
My college choir went to Prague – I remember it being beautiful and we sang in a lot of churches. I can’t wait to follow you on yet another adventure! Salzburg is the home of Mozart. There’s a lot of good opera there!
I always thought the nice thing about church was that it was the one place where I could disconnect from my phone. I got really annoyed this year when our church started putting the programs online rather than printing them (they still print a few copies, but not as many). I really didn’t want to be taking my phone out in church and having to squint to read it.
Also – cutting two carrots with one knife just seems dangerous to me…
Elisabeth
It DOES sound dangerous, but it sounds nicer than killing birds??
Yes! I remember hearing that saying at the beginning of newscasts and I was always thankful I didn’t live in Newfoundland (though it’s a lovely spot with such wonderful people).
Katherine B
I would second the comment that Neuschwanstein is worth the effort to visit. Went there maybe 45 years ago and still remember how amazing it was. Mad King Ludwig he may gave been but he knew how to commission a unique fairy tale castle!
Elisabeth
Is he the one who drowned himself in the local lake? I know I’ve heard all about how crazy he was, but I can’t remember all the details.
It has been a destination I’ve wanted to visit for years and years. Maybe this trip? If not this one, the next??
Bijoux
I’m in EST. I’ve never been to Europe, so no help there. I’ve also never heard of brushing teeth in the shower. I don’t understand the logistics of it. Where are you spitting? I imagine it all over my body! Also, where are you putting the toothbrush when done? I’m a germaphobe, so I wouldn’t want to lay the toothbrush down on anything. It all seems like a lot of work to move the paste/brush into the shower, rather than just stand at mirror and brush, but that’s just me 🙂
I don’t do email notifications, but one weird thing is that no matter how many times I check the box to save my name, etc. it will not save on my ipad. Only on my desktop.
Elisabeth
I spit into the bottom of the tub and it just goes down the drain. I put my toothbrush on the side of the bathtub when I’m done and then take it with me back to my bedroom ensuite when I’m done.
Sigh. There are so many little quirks and issues with WordPress. I bet if I hired someone knowledgable about these things I could fix all sorts of these problems, but I’m dragging my feet on that one! I have the same issue with blogs I read and I never know what makes one site work and another one not.
Eva
I suggest you postpone Neuschwanstein for a later trip, in favor of a castle that you’ll already be closer to. It’s definitely worth seeing, but would be a really far day trip from Vienna. Check out Belvedere or Schönbrunn, both right in Vienna! If you do go to Neuschwanstein, you won’t want to pass up Munich and other sights in that area.
Vienna has a lot to see and do. Graz, Linz, and Salzburg are all three walkable and easy to explore in a day, but Graz and Salzburg are each an almost three hour train ride from Vienna. For a shorter day trip and if that’s your thing, the Melk Benedictine Abbey might be work exploring.
Elisabeth
It does feel like it would be a bit rushed? Maybe we need to see this as an excuse to go to Munich and use that as a base in the near future? (I’ve never been to Germany!).
Thanks for the tips. This is all super helpful. And I know I’ll need to pace myself in terms of the distances for my “day trips” – that’s a lot of train time which can get tedious for the kids, especially if we want to do multiple extended day trips.
Sophie
I wasn’t getting your emails about replies either, but just checked spam and there they are! Gmail must have done some kind of update.
We also have some weird time zones in Australia (there are 4 different time zones). My state has 6 months on the same zone as 2 other states, and 6 months on its own time (due to no daylight savings). So confusing!
I never do my teeth in the shower. I hate to rinse my mouth with warm water. But my husband does at times! So individual.
Elisabeth
I’m throwing my hands up in defeat on the e-mail/spam thing as it seems like some people don’t receive them at all, some go to spam, and others receive them in their inbox just fine. Technology, isn’t it grand, as my father would say.
Suzanne
Your trip plans sound amazing! I love Vienna!!! When we went (in 2019), we also went to Munich, which was lovely, and used that as a home base for day trips to Salzburg (which I think is wonderful and totally worth a trip), Neuschwanstein (gorgeous but yes, quite a hike), and Nuremberg, which was a great day trip and such a fun city to explore.
The church distractions would get me too. I don’t claim to understand why people would choose to come to church and then be on their phones, but it takes all kinds. And I don’t even GO to church anymore so who am I to question anyone’s methods.
LOVE the winning photo. Such an expressive cow!
Elisabeth
The “problem” is there are just too many incredible things to see and only so much time to see them in! I know there are no bad choices, but I know I will have to pick and choose what we can do in a single trip. Stay tuned!
RG
Oh my goodness, I am SO excited that you will likely go to Prague! I spent a week there with my husband (pre-kids) and it’s one of the best trips I’ve ever taken. I’d be glad to exchange emails if you’ve got any questions (I went to Kutna Hora and Bohemian Switzerland!) but I’ll try to share some things off the top of my head …
1) The tour company Biko was great. They took us to Bohemian Switzerland and we also did a bike ride to Karlstein Castle
2) I purchased an online guide from Taste of Prague and thought it was worth it to help find restaurants! I have very fond memories of Kuchyn (built into the Prague Castle complex!). I also liked Cafe Louvre a lot, but that will probably turn up a lot on your research since many famous people have dined there.
3) There was a market along the east bank of the Vltava that we walked through on the way to Vysehrad on the first day of our trip and I remember feeling like that was a fantastic introduction to the city.
Also, unrelatedly, I had a former boss who said “Feed two birds with one scone”! 😀
Elisabeth
That trip sounds incredible. I’ll send you an e-mail now to connect off the blog. Thanks for the recommendations. If it doesn’t happen this year, I’m thinking it will happen next? John was recently in Prague for work and he called one night and said: “I know where our next trip is going to be!”
Feed two birds with one scone. That is delightful and I like it even better than the carrots one!!
Suzanne Hines
I am EST time zone, but a lot of people assume we are central time zone since we are in Ohio. I actually did not know about those two other additional time zones, especially not the half hour one!
I sat behind a couple in church who somehow made breastfeed their baby a two-person sport, during the service. I am very pro breastfeeding and support the discreet nursing of a baby in church, but this was SO distracting.
My BIL is a doctor and trained as a medical missionary overseas, so he has a doctor kit with a lot of supplies in it that the typical doctor probably doesn’t have. He has removed quite a few moles at kitchen tables over the years!
Elisabeth
I mean…the 1/2 hour is a bit ridiculous!
I have never had a mole removed, let alone at the table, but that sounds very convenient!
Alexandra
North American time zones are no more confusing than in Europe, but Atlantic time, and Newfie time? That’s special. So very Dr. Who.
I have to say I’m a little jealous at you off to visit Europe. We’re still trying to set aside time to go. But the OHs work schedule is killer. I have fond memories of both Prague and Vienna, but when I went it was still the 70s. I’m sure the buildings are all still the same, as the pastries will be, no doubt. And I’m sure we’ll all live vicariously through you the whole time you’re there.
As for the updates and gmail? No, I haven’t been getting anything from you for well, what seems like a week or two. I just assumed you were overwhelmed with the amount of comments you get daily. I know I would. Do you ever sleep?
And, eh, that’s a hard no to brushing my teeth in the shower … just no!
Elisabeth
European food is so good.
Darn. It seems like for most people they’re going to Spam, but some people don’t get them at all, and then others still receive them as per normal. I’ll try to sort it out sometime soon.
Alexandra
French food is definitely a cut above the rest. And we now have not one, or two Michelin star restaurants here, but three.
Yeah, I think it might be Gmail doing something weird. I’m going to check the Spam folder more to see if that’s what’s happening. Which is annoying enough.
Stephany
I had noticed that I wasn’t getting email replies from you, too, and then randomly one day I was checking my Spam folder and lo and behold, TONS of comment replies! I keep marking them as “Not Spam” but they keep going into Spam for some reason. I think it has something to do with the email they’re being sent from, but not sure if you can do anything about that. 🙁
I live in the Eastern time zone! I did not know anything about Canadian time zones – so very interesting!
I think I need to talk to my apartment maintenance about my tub’s faucet. It’s so hard to push up the knob to get the shower to turn on! I’m dealing with it, but just now I realized that I shouldn’t have to! That’s what maintenance is for.
I do not brush my teeth in the shower!
JMH
We are going to Vienna and Salzburg this summer! Definitely taking a day trip to Bratislava and will stay somewhere in the Alps for a few days. We haven’t done much Vienna planning but we did buy a bunch of Salzburg Festival concert tickets! I loved Prague but it has been a long time. I remember the beauty of the river, the castle and I adored all the unique stops in the metro. Food was very meh but I was also vegetarian and veggies weren’t a strong suit in the Czech Republic 20 years ago. Perhaps that has changed.
