I know April’s walking challenge is barely in the rear-view mirror, but it’s never too early to start planning for the next edition, right?
(If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out my recap of the most recent iteration of our online walking club!)

As I mentioned in that recap, thereβs sometimes a bit of confusion about how the CBWC works. I always clarify that you do NOT need to be a blogger to join, but I know that detail can still dissuade people from joining the group. I also understand that walking isnβt everyoneβs go-to form of movement.
After giving both of those points some thought, Iβve decided to run another round of the challenge in October with the primary focus still on walking. But, if youβd rather move in a different way for 10 minutes a day β yoga, dancing, running, chasing your dog around the backyard β youβre still welcome to be part of the “club”.
With that in mind, Iβve been brainstorming a new name that feels a bit more inclusive and accessible.
I am going to put it up to a vote, the same way I did for the F.I.G. Collective.

And because I love to overthink things…wouldnβt a tagline be fun, too?
Ideas so far:
- Walk the world in ten minutes β without leaving your neighbourhood.
- Short walks, big connections.
- Moving together even when we’re miles apart.
Now itβs your turn!
- Cast your vote (or donβt).
- Feel free to suggest other names or taglines. While Iβm calling this a democratic process, I reserve the right to go rogue if someone suggests something that really strikes my fancy!

I voted, because…every vote counts, but I have a suggestion. What about the GO (Get Outside) Group? Then you could say, “okay everyone, it is time to GO!” And it encompasses most things, although I guess if you are doing indoor yoga, that would not really fit the name. Or what about the 10×30 club, or something like that, where you just have to do 10 mins x 30 days and it doesn’t matter what it is? Or the 300 Club since it would be a total of 300 minutes? Or the 10x10x30 since October is the 10th month. Clearly, I am not a very good name chooser, as I don’t normally pick cute names, I pick practical ones, so I had a lot of cats named Blackie and Calico when I was a kid. π
Elisabeth
These are all such great ideas/insights. I LOVE the 300 Club; it sounds very exclusive and a bit mysterious. Though also reminds me of Sparta and the movie with G. Butler.
I am holding all these suggestions in high esteem and will report back π
Suzanne
I picked the Global Movement Club and love your third tagline! But by any name itβs so fun to have an βexcuseβ to get outside and do my movement of choice (walking), and to see your roundups of so many friends doing the same thing from their own slice of the world!

I voted. And I love consistency and how nice it all wraps together with the book club and other challenges.
But in the end I will join no matter the name.
I love this tagline: Short walks, big connections.
Elisabeth
Hey, this may be a case of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
Ana
I like the third suggestion for the tagline. I like either the original name or Ks suggestion GO group. Or how about something related to the tagline like the Move- It group?
mbmom11
I love the third tag line. No change for the name. However, I’ll join regardless!
Birchie
I went old school and voted for CBWC, with an emphasis on what you said – this is a group for everyone. As far as I’m concerned if you’re reading this post, then you qualify for membership in all of the Cool Blogger Clubs. Then I saw Kyria’s comment and I really like GO. Except that the treadmill and indoor fitness activities count, so it’s not just an outside thing. This feels like a case of the perfect being the enemy of the good for catchy names.
Whatever the label ends up being, it’s fun to be in this together. Anyone who is looking for an extra challenge should step it up and go on a walk WITH a Cool Blogger. And by that, I mean get on the phone and chat with someone else in the group, just like you and I did last week.
Elisabeth
I’m okay with it staying the same. At least I can point interested newbies back to this post to show that we really do want any and all movers (irregardless of your blogging status).
And I like your challenge! I am *supposed* to spend a few days in October with two very cool bloggers, and I am very much planning to fit in my walks on those days with them!
Bijoux
This is a super idea and I will definitely join. I just hope the weather improves by October because we are still having lots of rain. I look forward to seeing the pics from other places.

I went with OWLS because OWLS!!!
Elisabeth
I should have come up with a way to have an acronym that spelled REX; he has become the unofficial CBWC mascot <3
Ally Bean
Short walks, big connections! I like that tagline. OWLs has a good simple ring to it. Think of the possibilities for a logo using an owl!
Elisabeth
I know! A fluffy little owl would be so cuuuuute!

The funny thing about my suggestion is that I know this song from a movie I’ve never seen (!), but that advertised for a while on hockey games. How about the “I like to move it, move it” club?
Elisabeth
Love this! What a hilarious (and fun) tagline that’s already set to music.
Jenny
I LOVE “short walks, big connection.”
I like the original name, but I agree it sounds like it’s only for bloggers. I did vote for it and I see it’s winning (at this early date.) I”ll be interested to see what you decide on!
Elisabeth
It seems to be the front-runner. I get it. I’m partial to it as well. And I’m glad to see non-bloggers chiming in that they don’t feel left out.
Lindsay
Yay – I should be able to do 10 minutes of walking by October (well, I for sure hope so, haha!) and very much appreciate how accessible this is, no matter what it’s named!
Elisabeth
Yay! What a long journey you’ve had, but I’m so glad the worst should be behind you and you’ll have years of easier movement because of taking the plunge. Gold stars. It took guts to move forward, and I look forward to having you join in this October <3

I’m hoping October is a better month for walking than April was. April was ROUGH for us in terms of weather! You are great at coming up with names and subtitles!
Elisabeth
April was rainy and cold here (though maybe not as bad as May). October is usually sheer weather perfection in my neck of the woods.
Maria
I went with OWLs because I like how it matches with FIG in terms of being an acronym. Plus I like owls! Already looking forward to the October edition, whatever itβs called!
Elisabeth
It reminds me of Harry Potter, too. And think of the fun logo options. We shall see. At this point, CBWC seems to be winning!
Jacquie
I’m not a blogger, nor am I cool, but I still like the name and don’t feel it excludes me – it’s your welcoming nature, Elizabeth π Anyone reading your blog is clearly made aware they can join. I like the tag line “short walks, big connections.”
Elisabeth
I’m so glad that you never felt excluded. It is definitely the path of least resistance to stick with CBWC…and it’s winning!
I like that tagline, too. And I love Birchie’s idea of doing walk-and-talks with other bloggers so we can literally be walking at the same time, even if we’re geographically very far apart.
Michelle G.
I voted for OWLs because I love the acronym! But I also like the CBWC because it fits with the other Cool Bloggers clubs. I like the short walks, big connections tagline. But I’m in for any name and tagline!
Elinoora
(H) OWL’s moving castle π (even though I voted GMC, haha, but that’s before I really thought about the acronyms).
I also love short walks, big connections.
Melissa
I voted GMC, but whatever it’s called I’m in. I prefer the second tagline.
Ernie
I like the short distances, big conversations. Tagline. Or look at us go, with pictures to show. ?
I like the current name or the global movers club. Anything works. I am grateful to have permission to run. π
