This is an exciting day because it is the first time I’ve hosted a giveaway on my website. (Can I get some jazz hands from the folks in the back?)
Free things are happy things and I’m excited to be able to send a few lucky readers some great planning supplies.
The main star of this giveaway is the Weekly 2024 Sprouted Planner. The owner of Sprouted, Heather, very kindly offered to send some wonderful planning supplies for me to give away to you. (*Though these extras were provided free of charge, Heather hasn’t told me what to write or given me any restrictions over what/how to share my thoughts about her products!)
I’ve added in a few of my other favourite planner accessories: Sharpie Duo highlighters, Pilot Juice Up 04 pens (thanks to SHU for the recommendation; these are now my go-to pens), and my beloved DollarStore pads of paper which I use daily for lists.
FIRST, A PEEK AT MY 2023 HIGHLIGHTS
I have used the 2023 version of this planner almost every single day for the last year and, at the risk of sounding trite, I love this book.
It feels like an extension of me. It helps me stay organized, it’s where I keep track of happy things and sad things. I could talk about my planner for a looonnngggg time, but that isn’t really my modus operandi…so here are some of my favourite features:
1. The Week Spread
I am not a fancy or especially neat planner, and because there is lots of personal information included…it looks extra messy with my classy Sharpie technique for blocking out details. But this is a very typical representation in terms of how I use the spread.
The week is on the left. I often use the side margin for noting what meals I’ll make (not this particular week, apparently). Anything with a specific time/deadline gets listed and I highlight the time in yellow. On the right-hand side of the spread, I have to-do lists for Home and Work. Happy Things now get listed in the bonus space, along with a rough sketch of blog post ideas. I can’t remember what I was covering up with that little bookmark, but there’s something there, too.
Some weeks look busier, some weeks look neater, and some weeks are almost empty.
2. The Month Spread
Again, I’m covering up some personal details but I love the month view. I track various habits, have 14-15 recurring events that I list on the left-hand side, and it’s great to be able to see – at a glance – what my time commitments are for a particular week.
3. The Pocket
I love having a pocket. Such a handy feature.
I have also enjoyed filling in the first few pages of the planner with favourite quotes collected throughout the year!
4. Page prompts
Heather provides space for a lot of different information; one example is the “Year List” where I track my goals for the year. I highlight (and usually date them) when complete.
5. “Small” Favourite Features
The littlest details are the thing I like the most:
- A sturdy binding (I have never had a single issue).
- A removable bookmark – I move it to the current week. This was a new feature from 2023; it’s back in 2024 and I LOVE it.
- Lots and lots of lined blank pages at the back. I use these for all sorts of planning and my beloved lists.
2024 will mark the third year I’ve kept track of life in this awesome daytimer and I am giddy to jump into planning the new year (if only that new year didn’t come with a side helping of snow?)
For much snazzier pictures and more ideas of how to use the Sprouted Planner, please see the official website, SHUs 2022 discussions of this product (2023 hourly here), and an Amanda’s Favorite video which includes a 15% off code.

I would prefer super awesome planner package number 1! I love that monthly layout – my scattered brain works best operating with a solid birdโs eye view of the upcoming month.
My best PG joke: What did the snail say when it rode on the slothโs back?
Wheeeeeee!!
Grateful Kae
Iโd like to enter for #1! I have moved largely digital lately, BUT I still waver between missing using paper more. I still do use my Wonderland 222 for certain things but often feel the monthly layout is just too small for everything I need to put in those boxes! This one looks a bit more roomy and might be a better fit. Also love the large space for monthly list on the calendar grid page! Iโd like to try it!
A favorite joke I saw recently, which is a little long- sorry:
โOne Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque.
It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it.
The 6-year-old had been staring at the plaque for quite some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the boy and said quietly, โGood morning, Alexโ.
โGood morning, Pastorโ, he replied, still focused on the plaque. โPastor, what is this?โ
The pastor replied, โWell, son, itโs a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.โ
Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque.
Finally, little Alexโs voice, barely audible and trembling with fear asked, โWhich service, the 8:00 or the 10:30?โ
๐๐๐ That cracked me up when I saw it! ๐
Sophie
Ooh a giveaway- how fun! Iโve just bought my 2024 planner but Iโd love #2! Thanks for including international readers ๐
My joke is an oldie that always makes me laugh:
The hunchback of Notre Dame wanted to ring the bell but his disability had progressed and his arms werenโt working. He said- โDonโt worry, Iโll ring the bell using my mouthโ. He climbed up the bell tower, went to ring the bell, but lost his balance and fell, landing splat on the pavement below. The local villagers asked: โwho is he?โ And another answered- โI donโt know, but his face rings a bell.โ
Later, his brother climbed up the tower and also wanted to ring the bell. However, he too overbalanced, fell and hit the ground. Again the villagers asked: โWho is he?โ And others answered: โI donโt know, but heโs a dead ringer for his brother!โ.

I can see why you are loving this planner. It looks really useable.
And I like how you make it work for you.
In the monthly sheet I have spotted some arrows up and down. I am intrigued. What are you tracking there if you don’t mind telling.
While I love the planner and could see me using it I sit this one out. I am working for a stationary company and I have so many notebooks and planners and my goal ist to minimize a bit. So I am being responsible here and hope other will enjoy it. But the blue planner is really nice.
Katie
I’m going to throw my name in hat for #2! As much as I *want* to try the sprouted planner, I’m not sure it would be a good fit for my current stage of life (I mostly use a whiteboard hanging in the kitchen)!
A PG Joke… What is brown and sticky?
A stick.
Suzanne
Ooooh what a lovely giveaway! As I am a digital girl through and through, I am opting out. But I do have a joke!
Why is a koala not really a bear?
It doesnโt have the koalafications!
mbmom11
I would love super awesome notebook package giveaway #2. I love stationary; my favorite gift to give tweetns are nice notebooks and fancy pens.
Not my favorite joke but it’s appropriate for a math teacher:
Why is six afraid of seven? Because 7 8 9.
Mary
I’d love a chance to win package #1. My life is changing and I’d love to try a new planner layout to see if it works for my brain.
Thanks for sharing your planner – I love to see what others do!
Joke: What do you call a sleepwalking nun? A: A Roman Catholic.
Lisaโs Yarns
Throw me in the hat for #2. I already have my 2024 planner. I use the W222 which I love. I donโt utilize it as much as I should but I still use it a lot, especially when I am taking notes for client calls. It comes with me everywhere so it helps me keep track of all my meeting notes as I could be in many places when taking notes – at home, in the office, traveling.
That was so nice of Heather to send you one to giveaway!!!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie
Oh! I never really “got” how planners were used before. I like the idea. But like Suzanne, I’m digital so I will just say hi and opt out.
I don’t know any jokes. Oh wait, have you heard the one about the skunk? Never mind, it stinks.
Jenny
Okay, I want to enter for #1, the Super Awesome Planner Package! And if I don’t win I’m going to have severe FOMO (and might end up just purchasing a Sprouted planner this year.) Thanks for hosting this giveaway- how fun.
Elinoora
This is an awesome giveaway and โค๏ธ for including international shipping! I would love to sign up for giveaway 1, it sounds like a great way to combine work and home planning. And maybe it will inspire my oldest a little bit more when it comes to planning ๐
As for jokes, this one works best in Dutch or French, but I’ve translated it โบ๏ธ
‘How do you say ananas in English? รnanas or anร nas?’
Once you’ve given people a minute to try out all pronunciations you can burst out laughing and tell them it’s pineapple ๐
(Also, I love the koala joke ๐)
Michelle G.
Oh wow, these planners and notebooks are so gorgeous! I recently got Goodnotes, and I’m trying to figure it out – but it hasn’t been easy for me! A paper planner is much more my thing. I also love notebooks, so I’d be up to entering the drawing for either package.
Here’s a PG joke for you: What did the hat say to the scarf? You hang around and I’ll go on a head!
Ernie
This planner looks amazing. Tempting, but I think I will take a pass, as I’m locked into my current system. I’m with team Kate – big white board. It is tough because it doesn’t fit in my purse. I use a notebook for lists and a huge desk calendar on my island. I’m gonna stick with that, even though this notebook looks like I could get on board. I’d rather leave it to someone who is confident they’ll use it.
I also love the koala joke. My joke: Why do trees hate riddles? They hate getting stumped.
Anne
I’m not interested in the giveaways, so will sit this one out. But I’m just here to say that I am *loving* the PG jokes. Thank you for the laughs today. They’ve gotten me (mostly) out of my funk. ๐
Beth
I’ve been looking at the sprouted planner since you first mentioned it, but alas, the shipping was too high to justify to Ontario, so number 1 would be amazing!
My nine year olds are VERY into jokes right now, so here’s my son’s current favourite: what did the triangle say to the circle? Well you’re pointless. ๐
NGS
I’d prefer package #1, but I’m not a snob to turn away #2! LOL. I have been using my current paper planner for two years and as of December, I am ALL OUT of pages, so this couldn’t have happened at a better time.
PG Jokes:
Q: What do you call cheese that isn’t yours?
A: Nacho cheese.
Q: What’s brown and sticky?
A: A stick!
Jamie
Please add me to the drawing for #1. I have a truly dreadful joke: why did the cookie cry for its mother?
Because–
–sorry, this really awful–
–because she had been a wafer too long.
Rachael
How generous!! I would love #1!!!
I would have to report back for a PG joke-my seven year old is constantly telling jokes so so I feel like it should come more quickly to me!๐คฃ
Sarah
I’m interested in the planner! It actually looks similar to my ideal planner layout, but so far I have only been able to find it in undated format.
San
Oh, the planner giveaway… these types of giveaways make my heart sing. I just love paper and pens and planners and notebooks and all that stationary goodness ๐ What I love about the Sprouted Planner is that it has a minimalist layout and a spiral binding. I hate disc-binding with a passion (my favorite planner switched from spiral to disc a few years ago and I just couldn’t…)
Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway – I’d be happy to win either of these (obvs) but would opt for the planner, if I could choose.
PG Joke:
What does a thesaurus eat for breakfast?
– A synonym roll.
Allison
These are adorable, and so cleverly laid out. I would love to try #1. I have to write things on a wall calendar to make sure they are in my field of vision a couple of times a day, but I love the idea of tracking things and jotting down happy events and thoughts.
I mostly hang out with degenerates and am having trouble thinking of a PG joke. Um….oh! This one my daughter saw on Bones and once I explained it to her she memorized it to tell her physicist father when he got home from Japan: Schrodinger is driving on a highway and gets pulled over. The cop says ‘I’m going to need to check the trunk. Is there anything in there?’ Schrodinger says ‘ a cat’. The cop opens the trunk and says ‘this cat is dead!’ and Schrodinger says ‘well NOW it is!’
Katie
I would adore package #2, the notebook! Can I go on a tangent for a moment and say that there are a lot of planners out there, including ones I adore, like SHU, who seem to only share idyllic, super tidy planner spreads and I REALLY appreciate how you demonstrate how your planner is actually used IRL. I got some great ideas from this, thank you! I always start a planner thinking I’m going to color code everything and write neatly and then…I have to cross something out, mess up and use the wrong color pen for something, forget my fancy pens and have use a regular gray ballpoint (quelle horror!) etc etc. It used to bother me so much I would actually quit planners. Now, I am able to remind myself that goal of keeping a planner is to be more organized and pro-active NOT to generate pretty pages and press on, but still. Thank you from this recovering perfectionist.
Now for a joke:
Q: Why was the family so tired from camping? A: Because it was INTENSE! (in tents), haha, get it?
Nina
I’d love to enter for giveaway one. Thanks so much! The company that made my 2023 planner has shut down, so I need to try something new.
What flies and wobbles?
A jellycopter!
PS Loving all these jokes, will keep my kids entertained over breakfast in the morning.
McKenzie
That looks like a great planner. I’d love #2 though since I just bought a planner
What’s Beethoven’s favorite fruit? Ba-na-na-naaaaa
Hillary
Thank you so much for this giveaway! I would love package #2!
Gigi
How fun! I’d be happy with either if I were lucky enough to win.
I am terrible with jokes – PG or not. But when my son was small and into telling “jokes” (that never made any sense) this was the first one he told me that not only made sense it made me laugh (mainly because I was surprised). Whey do cows wear bells? Because their horns don’t work!
Kyria @ Travel Spot
Although I LOVE planners and planning, my last planner sat on the shelf and did not get used as much as it should, so I will let someone else have the fun! Not to say I won’t have FOMO though!
My favorite joke is still one that my brother and I used to tell when we were small.
A string walks into a bar and the bartender asks him if he is a string. When he says yes, the bartender says, “sorry, we do not serve strings here.” So the string walks outside, ties himself in a knot and rubs himself up against the wall. Then he walks back into the bar and the bartender asks him if he is a string. He says, “sorry, I’m a frayed knot!” Happy Sunday.
Stephanie G.
Crossing my fingers for package #1! Iโve been looking at this planner and would love to try it out!!
What did the right eye say to the left eye? Between you and me, something smells ๐
Stephanie
I would love #2! I just received my 2024 weekly sprouted planner (purchased after first learning about it on SHU Best Laid Plans) and am very excited about it! I think it will offer a lot more flexibility compared to other paper planners I have used. The notebook etc would be a great addition.
Joke (adapted from Adam Grant) What do philosophers, 3 year olds, and the Backstreet Boys have in common? They all say, โTell me why.โ
Sarah
I’d be thrilled to win package #2!
Ana
Would be thrilled to win either but probably would make best use of gift #2! Thank you!
Sarah
Thanks for the giveaway! Would love the first package…I tried a daily planner in 2023 and came to the conclusion that it’s too much space for me. Going back to a weekly in 2024!
Connie C
Give away #2 please as I already have a 2024 planner and would like to leave give way #1 for someone who doesn’t!
What did the fish say when it ran into the wall?
Dam.
Cindy
#1 is my first choice but I would be super happy with #2 as well.
Joke:
Why was Cinderella so
bad at soccer?
She kept running away
from the ball!
Moni
Would love the goodies in #2!!1
V
Iโd love option 1!
What do you call an angry carrot?
A steamed veggie
sarah
These are both amazing, but #1 is my first choice (but #2 is also fab)
What’s brown and sticky?
A STICK
Rabia K
Thank you for your generosity. I’m interested in Giveaway #1.
TC
Carrie
I would love #2. ๐
Joke:
What does a nosy pepper do?
He gets jalapeno business.
Alison
Super fun! I would love #1 as my first choice! I canโt live without my paper planner either but have been using cheaper ones from Amazon the past few years so this one would be a treat.
A favorite joke from when I was a kid:
Why did the porcupine lie down in the fireplace?
Because he wanted to sleep like a log.
Kate
Wow, what a generous giveaway!! I’m solidly committed to my Passion planner but would love the goodies in package #2!
My first grader told me this joke dozens of times over the summer and I belly laughed each time:
How many tickles does it take to get an octopus to laugh?
Ten tickles! (…say it out loud…)
Stephany
Sign me up for Planner #1 – I have never been very successful at using a paper planner, but I sure would like to try!
I have no jokes to give, but I have loved reading everyone else’s!

Sam
Would love to be considered for planner #1! And my mind is totally blank on jokes at the moment ๐
Lindsay
Late as always Lindsay HAHA! This is so generous! I’d love to be considered for either. I tried to give up paper planners this year, but instead ended up with a stack of sticky notes and a lot of lost tasks, sigh. PS: What do you call a factory that makes okay products? A SATISFACTORY!
Sabine
The give-away comes at the right time: I need to a new planner for 2024 and I would like to enter for the planner give-away no. 1. The weekly layout with the notes pages to the right is what I would be looking for.
I am not very good at jokes.
One of my kids’ favourite:
What is green and glides down the mountain?
A skiwi
Ann
I would love to try #1! Thanks for hosting the giveaway and keep doing what you’re doing!
